Rihanna was the centre of attention at the Echo Awards in Berlin – she arrived in a plunging green jumpsuit and then performed a raunchy dance routine with a large robot. Robbie Williams, Sade, The Gossip and Kesha (‘TiK ToK’) also entertained the crowds.
ECHO is a German music award granted every year by the Deutsche Phono-Akademie (an association of recording companies). Each year’s winner is determined by the previous year’s sales. The Echo Deutscher Musikpreis is the successor to the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis (German Record Awards).

CHICAGO-BASED ROCK AND SOUL OUTFIT TO PLAY THE METROPOLIS PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE IN ARLINGTON HEIGHTS
Feb 11, 2010 Chicago, IL — Platetectonic Music and NoVo Arts, Inc are proud to announce that Poi Dog Pondering will be playing two very special shows at the intimate Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights, IL on February 26th & 27th. Visual artist Marco Ferrari will join the band for both performances.
Known as “The little big band with the strong back and supple/stubborn heart,” Poi Dog Pondering has been following its intuition for over 25 years. From bohemian street buskers to impossible to market major label sacrificial lambs, PDP has ripened into staunchly independent musical voyagers. They have let every sound that has excited them flow through their music and flood it with ever changing colors: rock and soul; orchestral, acoustic and electronic textures; Americana, disco and international music. All styles are threaded along the way with lyrics that embrace the beauty and pain that life can bring.
Wednesday brought me, for the first time, to the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights. On tap; “Steppin Out” courtesy of Michael Ingersoll (a.k.a. Nick Massi) of the recently ended “Jersey Boy” fame, with his fellow cast members and wife Angela. Anyone who enjoys flashing back to the “Rat Pack” and “Doo Wop” era will really enjoy this show. Michael takes the lead and perform solo early on including a chic number with Angela. A little comedy and audience interaction spices things up at bit. The show really starts to sizzle after intermission when the other “Boys”, John Michael Dias, Shonn Wiley, and Michael Cunio share funny and entertaining stories of youth, growing up, and show biz while belting out hit after hit of those oldies but goodies backed up by an outstanding band “The Mulligan Mosaics”. This show will surely entertain but be forewarned, don’t go for the Four Seasons songs alone, only a medley of those songs create an exciting finale to the show. The Metropolis theater is an intimate and very comfortable venue to see a show, great atmosphere.
