President Donald Trump addressed the nation at 10:00PM ET/9:00PM CT after announcing earlier on Saturday evening, June 21, 2025 that US military forces dropped bombs on three Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. US B-2 bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri dropped six “bunker buster” bombs on Iran’s Fordow nuclear enrichment plant Saturday night, along with two other nuclear sites. President Trump declared the Fordow facility built one-half mile under a mountain “is gone.” Trump described that “a full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow.”
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump ended his message with a call for peace.
“There is not another military in the World that could have done this,” Trump wrote. “NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
“This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR. THANK YOU!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. He also reposted a social media post that said “FORDOW IS GONE.”
The president did not initially specify the military aircraft assigned to the operation; however, experts indicate the U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit stealth bombers with GBU-57A/B MOP Global Positioning System Aided Munition (GAM) or “Bunker Buster” bombs, which are developed for use with the B-2 Bomber, are believed to have been assigned to the operation. Also, Tomahawks fired from U.S. Navy submarines are believed to be involved in the operation.
Initially, there was no known operational name for the June 21, 2025 U.S. airstrike operation. UPDATE: The name of the operation was released Sunday as Operation Midnight Hammer.
