Woman Dies After Crash at Schaumburg Rd and Timber Trail in Streamwood

Police and firefighters, and paramedics from Streamwood responded about 3:17 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025 to a report of a three-vehicle crash with injuries and entrapment at Schaumburg Road and Timber Trail in Streamwood.

A Streamwood woman, Laura Huerta, age 42, died about 90 minutes after crash.

Battalion 9 on arrival reported a two-car accident with one vehicle with heavy damage. A female adult patient was extricated from a Toyota by firefighters by 3:29 p.m.

Lifesaving efforts were performed for the driver of the Toyota, identified as Laura Huerta. She was transported to St. Alexius Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 4:50 p.m.

No other injuries were reported, but a male victim of the crash was assessed by paramedics.

The intersection and nearby roadways were closed for several hours during an investigation of the crash by the Streamwood Police Department and the Major Case Assistance Team Serious – Traffic Accident Reconstruction team or MCAT-STAR team. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to the Streamwood Police Department.

A preliminary investigation reveals that Laura Huerta, the driver of the 2008 Toyota, was attempting to make a left turn from northbound Timber Trail onto westbound Schaumburg Road. Huerta’s Toyota was struck on the front driver’s side by a 2007 BMW that was being driven eastbound on Schaumburg Road.

Timber Trail, in a residential neighborhood, and Schaumburg Road, intersect in a T-type intersection. Schaumburg Road is as four-lane arterial street, and Timber Trail is a residential side street. The Speed Limit on Schaumburg Road is 40 MPH, according to Google Maps Street View images captured January 2022. Timber Trail has the only stop sign at the intersection, and the Speed Limit on Timber Trail is 25 MPH.
