Three male suspects are charged with felony burglary following a coordinated, multi-jurisdictional investigation into a series of overnight break-ins at liquor and convenience stores along Northwest Highway. Arlington Heights Police Department detectives began their investigation on June 27, 2026, after multiple offenders forced entry into local businesses, causing significant property damage and primarily targeting state lottery tickets. Local businesses in neighboring communities were soon burglarized in a similar manner.
Recognizing the regional pattern, Arlington Heights Police Department detectives launched a collaborative effort with the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) Surveillance Unit and investigators from the Wheeling, Mount Prospect, Palatine, and Prospect Heights police departments. Detectives reviewed evidence collected from burglary scenes as well as information gathered during canvasses of neighboring businesses. These efforts developed significant material evidence which strongly indicated the arrested individuals were responsible for the burglaries.
Detectives also focused their efforts on establishing the offenders’ whereabouts during the burglaries. A review of license plate recognition cameras also confirmed their vehicles were near the victimized businesses at the time of the burglaries. Following the break-ins, the offenders would visit unsuspecting retail stores to redeem the winning stolen tickets for cash. However, working closely with officials from the Illinois State Lottery, detectives were able to secure vital information adding to the mounting evidence in the investigation.
Overnight on July 14, 2026, the offenders returned to burglarize one of the businesses originally targeted in Arlington Heights. Detectives responded and arrested the offenders later that same morning.
The facts of the case were reviewed by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office – Felony Review Unit, who approved the respective charges of Burglary for each offender.
