The memorial vigil involved honors and praise that was given to Charlie Kirk, and memories of his life. The vigil in Arlington Heights was planned for Charlie Kirk immediately after he was fatally shot on September 10, 2025 at Utah Valley University.
The Charlie Kirk vigil was held Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 12PM/noon at North School Park, 307 North Evergreen Avenue in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Charlie Kirk was born in Arlington Heights (October 4, 1993), raised in Prospect Heights, graduated from Wheeling High School, and attended Harper College. He became active in politics in high school. He started to gain national recognition around 2012 with the founding of Turning Point USA. According to Art Ellingsen, Founder & CEO of the Arlington Heights TEA Party, Charlie Kirk became involved in politics in the Village of Arlington at Village Hall in 2011, which is the year before Charlie Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA.
The announcement for the vigil was described on an Instagram post by Chrissi Bretz as a “peaceful” event, and participants were asked to observe silence or speak softly during reflections, but the event took the form of a rally for Charlie Kirk and his values, including the call for extension of his mission and outbursts of support of Charlie Kirk and his values.
