Police, firefighters and paramedics from Mount Prospect responded about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024 to a report that a pedestrian was hit by a Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line near Prospect Avenue and George Street in Mount Prospect.

A pedestrian was discovered on the tracks west of George Street just north of Prospect Avenue, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Metra police are investigating the scene with an aerial drone and other methods with the assistance of the Mount Prospect Police Department. The incident occurred right at railroad tracks Mile Post 19. There is no grade crossing of any type or train station near that location.
