Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 11:37 a.m Monday, February 24, 2020 to a report of a car vs train crash at Northwest Highway and Arlington Heights Road.
An inbound Metra passenger train hit a white Jeep SUV and pushed the SUV about about 500 feet east of the intersection. The vehicle crashed with Metra train Number 642.
UPDATE …
The driver was removed from the vehicle, placed in Stokes basket and transferred to an ambulance waiting at Arlington Heights Road.
Initially it did not appear that any passengers on the train were injured. The driver in the SUV was transported to Northwest Community Hospital. Injuries suffered are initially believed to be non-life-threatening.
Arlington Heights Police Department captured drone video images, but Metra is the lead investigating law enforcement agency for this incident.
