A Valentine’s Day attack of three adolescent girls by 15-20 boys in a pedestrian tunnel has led to a charge for only one of the males. A 13-year-old male was taken into custody soon after the attack, charged with battery, and petitioned to juvenile court.
Three girls, ages 12-16, were allegedly attacked about 3:10 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026 by a group of 15-20 boys who punched the girls in a pedestrian tunnel under Randall Road south of Bunker Hill Road in Algonquin. The girls reported being struck by multiple closed fist punches and being knocked to the ground, according to the Algonquin Police Department report.
One of the female victims was treated by paramedics from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire District for minor injuries and released to a parent.
The investigation determined that there were approximately 15 to 20 male juveniles, ranging from 8 to 15 years old, in the area of a walk path/bike path near the pedestrian tunnel that interacted in a dispute with the three girls, followed by a physical altercation. After nine days there has been no indication whether the investigation by the Algonquin Police Department has identified any other suspects.
