COOK COUNTY, IL – A 24-year-old Des Plaines male adult has been charged after a Cook County Sheriff’s Police investigation found he had child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on his cell phone, according to an information release from Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) and Cyber Trafficking Unit (CTU) investigators received information on Feb. 18 that a cell phone belonging to Matthew Feeney had multiple CSAM images on it, including images of children under 13 years old.
On Thursday, Feb. 19, investigators located Feeney near his residence in the block of 9000 Capitol Drive in unincorporated Des Plaines (Maine Township north of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital), took him into custody, and took possession of Feeney’s cell phone. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the phone, where they found more than 100 images of CSAM on the device. On Friday, Feb. 20, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charge of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material, a Class 2 Felony, against Matthew Feeney.
Matthew Feeney was ordered to Cook County Jail custody on, Saturday, February 21 following his initial court appearance at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
The public is reminded that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
