K-9 Search: Suspect flees Metra train at Arlington Park after bloody fight on board the train (CARDINAL NEWS). YouTube Tips ⓘ
Metra Police and local police from Arlington Heights and Palatine responded just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday June 7, 2025 to a report assault and battery on Chicago inbound Metra train #726 that was located at Arlington Park in Arlington Heights.
Allegedly, a suspect battered a person on the train, left their personal belongings behind, and fled the train. The passenger train was stopped for investigation and a search of the suspect. The suspect fled north-northeast across Northwest Highway, and was spotted in backyards near Olive Street and Warren Avenue in Palatine, just west of the border with Arlington Heights. A K-9 from Palatine was deployed, but the suspect was not found. The search was broken down 8:00 p.m.
Police set up a perimeter during the search. One Arlington Heights police vehicle was setup at Olive Street and Wilke Road. In total there were about 12 police vehicles involved in the search — at least two from Metra Police Department, and then about five each from Arlington Heights Police Department and Palatine Police Department.
Many passengers left the train while it was delayed at the Arlington Park Metra station. One witness said there was a lot of blood on the floor of one of the passenger cars. Another witness reported that the suspect pulled the train’s emergency brake before getting off the train and running north across Northwest Highway (US-14).
The suspect was described as a male/white about 5’6″ or 5’7″ wearing a tie dye shirt and a baseball hat.
The injured victim refused EMS transport with paramedics.
