Four vehicles were destroyed in a predawn fire in an alley parked behind an apartment building on Kenmore Avenue just north of Hollywood Avenjue in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood. The fire was captured on video by a neighbor.
Chicago firefighters and police officers responded about 3:52 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2025 to a report of a vehicle fire in the block of 5700 Kenmore Avenue in Chicago. Engine 59’s crew arrived about 3:58 a.m. and reported three vehicles on fire. Engine 59’s crew had the fire under control by 4:12 a.m. and requested Battalion 9 to respond to the scene. In total, four vehicles were destroyed or severely damaged.
No injuries were reported, and a neighbor indicated that no ambulance was spotted in the area.
At approximately 3:45 a.m., a neighbor reported hearing arguing outside, and then heard multiple loud bang sounds. Later at around 4:00 a.m. the neighbor discovered that firefighters were on the scene working to extinguish vehicles that were burning.
Another neighbor reported calling 911 around the time of the first bang sounds. The fire continued to spread from a single vehicle to damage three additional vehicles parked nearby.
A police officer was on scene for report and/or investigation at about 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
The four vehicles were towed away from the scene.
