Fatal Rear-End Crash on Green Bay Rd Near Russel Rd in Zion

Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Zion Police Department responded about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025 to a report of a vehicle crash in the area of Russell Road and Green Bay Road in Zion. Officers arrived and located two vehicles that had been involved in a rear-end type crash.




A 68-year-old Pleasant Prairie woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle that struck the other vehicle was transported by fire department ambulance to Vista Medical Center East, where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room. Based on the seriousness of the incident, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) of Lake County was requested to assist in the investigation.

Preliminary investigation indicates that both vehicles were northbound on Green Bay Road when one of the vehicles rear-ended the other at a high rate of speed.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the hospital.

The deceased previously lived in Zion, and has been identified as 68-year-old Judith Kidder, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. On Monday, March 17, 2025, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Autopsy results indicate that Ms. Kidder died from blunt force injuries of the head and neck as a result of the crash.

The crash investigation is ongoing by the Zion Police Department and MCAT.
