The Des Plaines Police Department announced Sunday, December 31, 2023 that a suspect has been charged with First Degree Murder after a Mount Prospect man was stabbed to death in a Burger King on Elmhurst Road on .




The Des Plaines Police Department, with assistance from the Cook County Major Case Assistance Team, and in cooperation with the Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney’s Office, has charged Antonio Solorio, age 42, with one felony count of First Degree Murder
stemming from the stabbing incident that occurred on Wednesday December 27, 2023 at 860 Elmhurst Road in Des Plaines.

Des Plaines Police Department investigators were able to identify Antonio Solorio of 1601 West Cottonwood Lane Mount Prospect as a person of interest through several witness accounts of the incident as well as surveillance footage in the area. Solorio was taken into custody outside of a family member’s residence in Streamwood on the afternoon of December 29, 2023. The investigation revealed that Solorio and the victim, Mario Jara-Antemante, knew each other from the area and had several of the same acquaintances. Solorio gave a full confession to police investigators. He was charged with one felony count of First Degree Murder in the early morning hours of December 31, 2023.




Antonio Solorio was booked December 31, 2023, and placed in custody at Cook County Jail, 2700 South California Avenue in Chicago (Housing Location DIV08-2G-D3-22).

Solorio is awaiting a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday, January 3, 2023.

Des Plaines police released the identity of the victim in a fatal stabbing at a Burger King in Des Plaines as Mario Jara-Antemante, a 28-year-old male from Mount Prospect. The stabbing occurred just before 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27th at Burger King, 860 South Elmhurst Road in Des Plaines.

Police investigators learned that Mario Jara-Antemante was involved in a confrontation outside of the Burger King at 860 South Elmhurst Road with an unknown male subject when he was chased by the unknown subject into the Burger King establishment, and subsequently stabbed. A witness said the stabbing victim (Mario Jara-Antemante) tripped and fell when he was in the lobby, and then the offender stabbed the victim while he was on the ground. Another witness said the victim was stabbed in the abdomen.




Police officers from Des Plaines and Mount Prospect; and firefighters and paramedics from Des Plaines responded about 5:53 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023 to the Burger King, 860 Elmhurst Road to a report of two male subjects fighting, with one of the males stabbed. Prior to the officers arriving on scene, the offender fled the area.

The offender may have fled southeast from the Burger King Restaurant.

Arriving officers located male stabbing victim with multiple stab wounds inside the Burger King, and determined the scene was secure. Des Plaines Fire Department paramedics then treated and transported Mario Jara-Antemante to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where Mario Jara-Antemante ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The Des Plaines Police Department requested assistance from Cook County’s Major Case Assistance Team. The investigation is in it’s preliminary stages, according to the Des Plaines Police Department.

The Des Plaines Police Department stated that the police department is confident that the stabbing is an isolated incident, and “there is no threat to the public.”

Investigators continue their efforts to determine the reason for the altercation, and to attempt to identify and locate the other party in this altercation.
