Illinois State Police and firefighters and paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 10:59 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2029 to a report of a serious crash involving “a truck that crashed into five vehicles.” The crash scene involved a white box truck and five passenger vehicles. Two of the passenger vehicles stopped furthest east at the scene may have been occupied by witnesses, and those two vehicles might not have been involved in the crash. The crash killed the driver in the silver Hyundai — Eric Bonilla Jr., age 28, of Addison, Illinois.
Eric Bonilla Jr. was found deceased in the driver’s seat. Firefighters and paramedics worked with extrication tools to check the back of a silver Hyundai because the back of the car was so severely damaged they had to confirm that there were no additional victims in the twisted metal around the back seat.
Some media sources reported this crash was a four-vehicle crash involving a semi-trailer truck, but CARDINAL NEWS video shows that there may have been six total vehicles involved. Primary damage involved a white box truck and the silver Hyundai with severe damage. A dark Jeep SUV with severe rear-end damage was located at least 50 feet behind the box truck. Three passenger vehicles were positioned at least 50 feet in front of the silver Hyundai. Closest to the front of the Hyundai, was a white Acura TLX with rear-end and passenger side damage, then a silver Toyota Prius in front of the TLX, and a Honda H-RV in front of the Prius. The Prius and the Honda H-RV had minor or no damage.
Initially, no other injuries were reported in the crash.

Eric’s life was tragically ended on 6/29/2023 around 11 in the morning; our dear friend was 28 years young with a whole life to live and give. Eric is survived by his wonderful parents Eric Sr. and Felicitas Bonilla; courageous sister Irene Bonilla; and his closest friends.
