Mayor Lori Lightfoot conceded her run for re-election as mayor of Chicago Tuesday night, February 28, 2023. The Democratic Chicago Mayor has lost her bid for re-election in a race against all Democrats. She will not forward to the runoff, as no mayoral candidate reached the required 50% vote threshold to be elected.

Lori Lightfoot is the first Chicago mayor in 40 years to lose a bid for re-election.

Paul Vallas and Brandon Johnson will proceed to the runoff on April 4, 2023.




Paul Vallas led the race with about 35% of the votes.

Brandon Johnson was next at about 20% of the votes.

Lori Lightfoot was third with about 17% of the votes.

Jesus Garcia was fourth with about 14% of the votes.

Willie Wilson was fifth with about 9% of the votes.
