Police from Dearborn, Michigan responded about 1:09 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022 to a report of shots fired at the Hampton Inn, 22324 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.
Officers immediately responded, attempted to secure the scene, and evacuate people from the area.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist the Dearborn Police Department. Michigan State Police are providing aviation support and other support operations.
One shooting victim was transported to a local hospital. The shooter is believed be using a long gun.
Police believe the suspect is contained at the crime scene, and police are negotiating with the suspect. However, police also warned that the area surrounding the Dearborn Hampton Inn shooting scene was dangerous due to the risk bystander being shot. Police warned people to stay away from the area because the scene was active and dangerous.
Michigan Avenue is closed off in the area of the barricade incident at the Hampton Inn. Businesses are locked down in the area.
