Hit-and-Run Crash Knocks Out Power to Apartment Building on Piper Lane Prospect Heights

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Prospect Heights responded about 4:50 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022 to a report of a crash with injuries in the block of 400 Piper Lane in Prospect Heights.

Squad 9’s crew on arrival reported the crash involved one car with moderate damage after hitting a transformer, and reported the crash was a hit-and-run crash as the driver fled the scene on foot.

The impact of the crash moved the transformer from its installed position on a foundation, and caused a power outage to at least one apartment building.
