International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. International Women’s Day is also described as a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.

Olena Bilozerska (three videos directly below) is an officer in the armed Forces of Ukraine. Since 2014, she has been a participant In the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as a sniper. In her own blog, Olena mainly covers protests and actions of right-wing political parties and movements, which she documents with numerous photographs she has taken. She also publishes her own poems and translations of foreign poetic works into Ukrainian.

Bilozerska prefers not to sit right in front of the camera because the right side of her face is paralyzed due to some medical issues and wounds.
