Police, firefighters and paramedics responded about 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2022 to a pile-up crash involving about 60 vehicles on I-81 just south of Route 901 (Sunbury Road) in Schuylkill County near Hegins in Pennsylvania. Some of the vehicles were on fire, and several of the vehicles were semi-trailer trucks. At least one police SUV was involved in the crash.

Three people were confirmed dead Monday afternoon, but the death count is expected to rise because some vehicles were still burning and had not been checked for victims. At least 24 people were transported by paramedics to nearby hospitals.
