A Wikipedia outage began about 1:07 a.m. CST Tuesday, March 29, 2022, according to real-time website monitoring platform Downdetector.com. Outage hotspots were indicated especially in Chicago and New York.

Wikipedia was back up and running about 1:45 a.m. CST.

Users on Downdetector.com (Wikipedia) reported outages from Seoul, South Korea, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, and India.

The website was throwing a 503 Service Unavailable error at 1:07 a.m.

A news item regarding maintenance was posted in Wikipedia:Tech news on March 28, 2022 at 19:53 (UTC).

“Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of regular database maintenance. It will be performed on 29 March at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis) and on 31 March at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis).”

Several users by 1:46 a.m. to 1:49 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2022 reported Wikipedia was back up.
