Police from Kildeer, and firefighters and paramedics from Lake Zurich Fire Department responded about 6:14 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2022 to a report of a crash with injuries on US-12 EAST (southbound Rand Road) in Kildeer.
Police, firefighters, and paramedics on arrival discovered a crash through a wrought iron fence on the south side of Rand Road at the Concorde Banquets property. A minivan or large SUV was resting on the passenger side with one female victim inside the vehicle.
The victim was unresponsive at the scene and was treated by Lake Zurich Fire Department paramedics and extricated by about 6:35 p.m. The victim was the driver, and was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Colleen O’Neill, age 60, and was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was assigned to assist Kildeer Police Department with the investigation of the crash scene. US-12 (Rand Road) was closed in both directions between Quentin Road and Cuba Road until around 2:00 a.m. during the investigation. South Lake County Regional CERT provided secure road blocks at both ends of the US-12 (Rand Road) closure during the MCAT crash investigation.
The crash occurred east of the Concorde Banquets building between Wooded Ridge Road and Quentin Road. There is a slight left hand curve for US-12 EAST just before the location where the crash occurred. The Speed Limit is 45 MPH.
