A 20-foot steel beam from the World Trade Center site stands straight up in a memorial park, located at 301 South Main Street in Wauconda. The 13,000-pound artifact and the Heroes of Freedom site at Memorial Park is dedicated to honoring the victims, the first responders, and military called to action after the terror attacks on September 11, 2001.

Memorial Park is located just north of the Wauconda Police Department headquarters at the corner of Main Street and Liberty Street.
