Hurricane Ida intensified to a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of at 150 MPH. Flooding and damage is widespread.

Power is out for most or all of New Orleans; an electricity transmission tower that survived Hurricane Katrina in 2005 collapsed into the Mississippi River during Hurricane Ida in 2021.

9-1-1 service is out for several parishes.

Fire, police, and national guard personnel are beginning rescue operations as severe weather conditions have passed New Orleans Monday morning. Hurricane Ida has already been downgraded to a tropical storm.
