3 Rescued After Boat Capsizes in Bangs Lake During Stormy Weather

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Wauconda responded about 2:08 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021, to a report of three people in the water after their boat capsized in Bangs Lake near west Elmwood Avenue on the north side of Bangs Lake.

Firefighters were able to rescue the three victims with the assistance of Wauconda police officers. All victims in the water were wearing life jackets.




Initially no injuries were reported, according to Wauconda Fire.

The boaters were trying to get back to shore during threatening weather, but the boat capsized about 15 yards from shore, according to firefighters. Thunderstorms were passing through the area at the time of the incident.
