Police and firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 6:29 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2021 to a report of a crash with injuries and a vehicle fire at Rand Road and Wilke Road in Arlington Heights. Police, firefighters, and paramedics discovered that the crash was actually located at Rand Road and Wilke Road in Palatine — a different intersection located in Palatine.




Arlington Heights firefighters extinguished a fire involving two vehicles crashed and located together at the southwest corner of Rand Road (US 12) and Wilke Road in Palatine.

At least two people were injured and transported to Northwest Community Hospital. Initial reports indicated all people were out of the vehicles before they burned.




One vehicle as gutted by fire and the second vehicle was damaged by fire at the front-end. A Subaru and a Toyota were involved in the fire.

IDOT plows were dispatched to the scene assigned to extra maintenance on Rand Road and the crash scene. Many streets and road across the suburbs were not cleared or prepared well for morning rush hour, although snow had stopped falling by about 1:00 a.m. according to local observations and the official National Weather Service report at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
