A fire was set at a liquor store overnight in the West Englewood neighborhood as riots continued (CBS 2 Chicago).

Protests progressed to rioting in Chicago when a violent element was inserted into crowds during the final weekend of May 2020. Following the lockdown of the loop and downtown Chicago, opportunists acting out with criminal activity — including arson, looting and criminal damage to property — spread to the south Loops and primarily neighborhoods on the South Side of Chicago.
