Shots Fired, Arson Fires, Looting, Criminal Damage During Aurora Protest on Sunday Prompts State of Emergency and 8:30 PM Curfew

Aurora police report vehicles were torched and shots were fired at an armored vehicle Sunday May 31, 2020. A Kendall County Sheriff’s MRAP armored vehicle was on the scene, according to Charlie De Mar, but shots were fired at another armored vehicle — possibly a Kane County Sheriff’s armored vehicle. An 8:30 p.m. curfew was activated Sunday May 31, 2020. The CBS 2 Chicago TV news crew was warned that people were shooting at police.

Police were shown forming a line and moving people off the streets at about 10:45 p.m. Illinois State Police with K-9 units were also on the scene assisting Aurora police officers. In response to shots fired, many police were wearing and equipped with tactical gear.

A State of Emergency was issued by Mayor Richard Irving from 8:30 p.m. Sunday to 6:00 a.m. Monday June 1, 2020.

Elgin police SUV in the area for assistance was totaled by fire …
