The Illinois State Police (ISP) announced ramp closures on Facebook on Sunday May 31, 2020 until further notice. The ISP did not connect the closures to the riot conditions in Chicago, but apparently (obviously) the connection of the closures is a logical response.

The exit ramps on I-290/IL-53 at Higgins Road and at Woodfield Road have been shut down by police.

There have been reports of closures to entrances of properties at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg and at Northbrook Court in Northbrook among several other shopping centers or shopping malls across suburban Chicagoland. Arson fires have been reported in several retail properties in the City of Chicago — often accompanied by large crowds looting. Firefighters already on the streets are reporting smoke in neighborhoods before the fires are even called in to 9-1-1.
