A 47-year-old man was robbed at a Near North hotel after two people came to his door with a can of mace.

Chicago police responded about 1:30 a.m. Thursday March 8, 2018 to a report of a robbery at the Conrad Chicago hotel 101 East Erie Street. Police received a report that a man and woman came to his hotel room door armed with a can of mace.

The male victim told police he heard an unexpected knock on his hotel room door, and went to see who it was. The man and woman displayed a can of mace and demanded money in a robbery. Police say the victim reported he gave them his cash, and that the offenders left without using the mace.

Police are examining the Conrad’s surveillance cameras to verify the report and attempt to determine a description and possible identify of the robbers.
