Naperville police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:29 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 to the area of Diehl Road west of Abriter Ct. after receiving a 911 call of a single vehicle crash involving a vehicle that struck a light pole. Upon arrival, units located a blue 2001 Toyota Corolla in the driveway of 1120 E. Diehl Road. The vehicle was occupied by a male driver identified as Matthew McMahon, 20 years of age from Naperville. Initial investigation indicates that McMahon was driving eastbound on Diehl when the vehicle left the roadway striking a light pole in the driveway of 1120 E. Diehl. McMahon died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.
Due to the nature of the crash, members of the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit trained in accident reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate the accident. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
The Naperville Police Department is seeking information regarding another vehicle that was in the area at the time of the crash. The vehicle is described as follows:
Newer model white Ford Fiesta with oversized black rims, blue HID headlights, tinted windows and a loud exhaust system that may be an aftermarket installation.
