Woman Removed from Submerged Car at Harper College Declared Dead After Transported to Northwest Community Hospital

UPDATE: A woman has died after her car rolled into a pond on the north side of the campus of Harper College. The woman has been identified as Victoria Auer, 64, of Rolling Meadows, and her death has been ruled a drowning.

Palatine Fire Department responded about 12:15 p.m. Thursday to a water rescue call at Harper College, 1200 West Algonquin Road at a pond near parking Lot 10 on the north side of the campus. Immediately upon arrival, firefighters reported a water submerged.


Palatine Fire Department fire command reported that a victim had been removed about 12:25 p.m.

The woman’s identity has not been released and her condition as she was transported to Northwest Community Hospital has not been released by authorities.

Divers from fire departments from Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, and Wheeling were requested at the scene.
