PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE AREA TODAY. SURFACE TEMPERATURES HAVE
WARMED ABOVE FREEZING FOR THE OUTLOOK AREA WHICH ELIMINATES ANY
WIDESPREAD CHANCES FOR FREEZING RAIN. SLEET HOWEVER WILL CONTINUE
TO BE A THREAT THROUGH MID MORNING AND CAN CAUSE SLICK CONDITIONS ON THE ROADWAYS. Rockford and Waukegan are under a Winter Storm Warning. As of 8:30 a.m. no snow accumulation is showing at intersections in Lake County, Illinois (see TRAVELMIDWEST.COM — Camera Report Lake County)

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT
PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE AREA TODAY. PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN AS
A SHORT PERIOD OF SNOW AND SLEET EARLY THIS MORNING. THE SNOW MAY
BE HEAVY AND RAPIDLY ACCUMULATE ON AREA ROADS. A QUICK 1 TO 3
INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE ACROSS FAR NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND
NORTHWESTERN INDIANA THROUGH MID MORNING. THEREAFTER…WARMER MIDLEVEL TEMPERATURES WILL QUICKLY CHANGE THE SNOW AND SLEET TO A
