Girl, age 9, hit by a car in the southbound lanes of Arlington Heights Road near North School Park while crossing Arlington Heights Road at St. James Street.

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:17 PM Wednesday November 22, 2017 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle at Arlington Heights Road and St James St Arlington Heights, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a 9-year-old girl was hit while crossing Arlington Heights Road in the crosswalk at St James Street.

Upon arrival Squad 2’s crew reported one person down in the roadway.

Battalion Chief 1 and Engine 2 were added to the call for command and scene protection.

A 9-year-old girl was hit by a sedan that was traveling in a southbound lane of Arlington Heights Road. On impact with the front and hood of the sedan, the girl was thrown at least 25 feet and possibly up to 47 feet.

She was conscious at the scene, and was transported to Northwest Community Hospital.

There was no initial information on any citations.

There is a marked crosswalk across Arlington Heights Road aligned with the sidewalk on the south side of St. James Street. The crosswalk is also indicated by yellow crosswalk street signs.
