Mount Prospect Police Arrest Arlington Heights Man; Burglary Suspect Caught on Canary Cam

The Mount Prospect Police Department has been thoroughly investigating the residential burglary that took place on Sunday, July 23, 2017 in the 300 block of North William Street. At this time, our department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the offender of this crime. A home security camera in the residence captured video of the crime, which includes the offender. After reviewing the security footage, it is now believed that the offender could be between 55 and 65-years-old.
Anyone who recognizes this offender or has information regarding this crime is asked to call the Mount Prospect Police Department’s Investigations Section at 847-870-5654. Tips made through Crime Stoppers of Mount Prospect that lead to the arrest and prosecution of the offender(s) could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
On Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 12:01 PM, the Mount Prospect Police Department responded to a residential burglary in the 300 block of North William Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a juvenile who was in the home when the offender entered the residence. The juvenile related she heard knocking at the front door just before noon. The juvenile was upstairs and didn’t answer the door, but looked down the stairs and saw an unknown male subject looking into the window of the front door. After the subject knocked multiple times, the juvenile observed the subject force open the front door. The juvenile ran into a bedroom and locked the door. The offender went up the stairs and attempted to open the first door he came to, which happened to be the locked bedroom where the juvenile was hiding. The juvenile began screaming, causing the offender to run out of the house through the front door, fleeing northbound.
The offender is described as a white male, approximately 55-65 years old, white hair, wearing a black baseball style hat, sunglasses, black t-shirt, black shorts and black shoes.
