Woman Injured in Vehicle vs Metra Train Crash at Route 134 Near Porter Drive, Round Lake Beach Park

Round Lake Park police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:00 PM Sunday July 2, 2017 received a report of a car vs train crash with extrication near Route 134 and Porter Drive Round Lake Beach Park, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a vehicle and train crashed on the Metra Milwaukee District North Line.

The car vs train crash also invovled extrication.

Engine 261’s crew on arrival reports one vehicle with heavy damage.

A second ambulance and a General Alarm for station coverage were requested by 11:04 a.m.

The incident was reported to be east of the tracks.

Extrication was complete by 11:16 a.m.

A female patient, age 58, was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center, where she was initially listed in critical condition, and then stable condition. The resident of Round Lake suffered head and chest injuries.

No passengers on the Metra train involved in the crash initially reported any injuries.

The Round Lake Park Police Department requested the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) to assist with the investigation of the crash.

Inbound Metra Train #2608, which was stopped at the crash scene, had been scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 12:22 p.m. Inbound and outbound trains were halted after the crash.
