Protecting Washington: 113th Wing of Air National Guard Flies Over DC

#ad▼

Major General Scott Vander Hamm provides insight — part of the NORAD Air Defense Shield is the 113th Wing of Air National Guard, which is the busiest of the NORAD fighter wings.

The District of Columbia Air National Guard units are stationed at nearby Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. The District of Columbia Air National Guard 113th Wing, known as the “Capital Guardians”, provides air sovereignty forces to defend the Nation’s Capital, and also provides fighter, airlift and support forces capable of local, national and global employment.

If the 113th Wing is activated to federal service, the Wing is gained by the United States Air Force Air Combat Command.
