Shooting investigation scene on Bonhill Drive, unincorporated Arlington Heights.
Cook County Sheriff’s deputies and Long Grove and Palatine firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:41 PM Monday June 12, 2017 First responders received a report of two gunshot victims — one at 4001 Bonhill Drive and one at 4012 Bonhill Drvie in unincorporated Arlington Heights, Il.
A caller reported one person definitely down on the ground, and that the status of the other gunshot victim was unknown. The location of the offender or offenders was unknown, but one or more offenders were believed to have fled the scene.
Cook County Sheriff’s police declared the scene secure by 12:46 p.m. and firefighter/paramedics were able to move up to treat their patients.
One victim was located at 4012 Bonhill Drive, and one victim was located at 4001 Bonhill Drive. A neighbor reported seeing one man down on a grass hill just south of an apartment building. A baseball cap and other articles of clothing remained at the scene after the victim was transported to the hospital.
Fire command on the scene reported one patient was shot in the back, and one patient was shot in the foot.
A male, age 21, was seriously injured with a gunshot wound to the back, and transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge by Long Grove firefighter/paramedics. A 19-year-old man was shot in the foot with a gunshot wound that was described as non-life-threatening. the 19-year-old man was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights by Palatine firefighter/paramedics.
One group of neighbors reported hearing three shots fired. Another group of neighbors reported hearing four or five shots fired. Cook County Sheriff’s investigators were concentrating a search just south of a white or creme-colored brick apartment building. It appeared that Cook County investigators were using a metal detector at the crime scene. Metal detectors are known for their use to find brass shell casings in grassy areas, or detecting the buried evidence, such as crime weapons, knives, ammunition, etc.
Cook County Sheriff’s police used yellow crime scene barrier tape for an outer perimeter and red crime scene barrier tape for an inner perimeter at the location where one gunshot victim was down on a grass hill.
Cook County Sheriff’s police officers canvassed a large area of the neighborhood to gather any witness observations.
