Shakou Arlington Heights Asian Cuisine, Sushi

Shakou Arlington Heights, a “high-end, urban-style” Asian restaurant, plans to hold its grand open this upcoming weekend June 16-18, 2017 at 70 North Vail Avenue at the southeast corner of Vail Avenue and Davis Street/Wing Street in downtown Arlington Heights. There is a soft opening this week with the restaurant operating at its normal hours (see below). The restaurant has Wrigleyville-style open-window capability facing Vail Avenue, and outdoor dining with outdoor heaters. Last weekend pop/dance or pop/tech music was playing on the restaurant’s sound system during employee orientation.

The Arlington Heights location is Shakou’s fifth in the Chicago suburbs. Shakou’s menu offers sushi, maki and other Asian cuisine.

The Arlington Heights location has room for as many as 250 diners, with patio seating for al fresco dining at lunch and dinner, and a sushi and cocktail bar. There is also comfortable patio seating for waiting. Shakou is located in a 3,000-square-foot space that was previously occupied by Armand’s Pizzeria until December 2016, when Armand’s moved south one block to a larger space at 101 West Campbell Street at the southwest corner of Vail Avenue and Campbell Street.

Shakou opened its first location in Libertyville in 2013, followed by restaurants in St. Charles, Barrington and Park Ridge. The Arlington Heights location will have about 60 employees, who were training this past weekend during the Promenade of Art festival in Arlington Heights.

Shakou employs approximately 275 people in Chicagoland.

Due to the demand expected for the grand opening weekend, reservations are recommended by visiting www.shakourestaurants.com or calling 847-749-3915.
