Jacob Beeman Attempted Homicide Suspect Buffalo Grove
Jacob Beeman; home invasion, animal cruelty, attempted homicide suspect.

Jacob William Beeman, 29, of Arkdale, Wisconsin, was charged Friday, August 12, 2016 with attempted first-degree murder, home invasion and aggravated animal cruelty.

Beeman was arrested shortly after the stabbing, when Wheeling police received a report of a suspicious person at a Wheeling gas station. Beeman had a large knife hidden in his boot, according to Wheeling police.

About midnight before the four victims at a house on St Mary’s Parkway were stabbed, the four stabbing victims were inside the house with two additional people that were not stabbed. The 19-year-old son of the 47-year-old homeowner was playing a video game with a 16-year-old female friend and two other people in a bedroom while the 46-year-old homeowner was asleep in another room. Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Maria McCarthy at a bond hearing reported the following details about the crime.

The 16-year-old girl looked outside though a window and saw two men walking toward the house. The other three did not see anyone outside when they looked.

Next, the window air conditioner in the bedroom was pushed in and Jacob Beeman stuck his head and upper body through the window while wearing black gloves on his hands, and a bandanna over his face. He waved a knife at the four people in the room.

Beeman quickly withdrew from the gap and then went to kick in the front door and breaking a window. This caused some screaming among the four playing video games, which woke up the 47-year-old homeowner and father, who entered the room with his German shepherd, Piston. Beeman allegedly stabbed the German shepherd Piston in the neck and leg.

Then Beeman allegedly began stabbing the father, while the son found an Airsoft pellet gun. He approached the intruder and pulled the trigger, but nothing happened.

Beeman then chased the son, and stabbed him twice in the arm and once on the forehead. A girl was stabbed on the top of her head and in her hand.

The two other people escaped injury by locking themselves in the father’s room and escaping the house out a window.

Beeman left the bedroom and attacked the father again, and began to stab him again. The father had retrieved semiautomatic handgun from his safe and fired one round, and Beeman departed.

When Beeman left the house, he met another man, who apparently never entered the house, and was wearing a bandanna covering his face. The second suspect had not been apprehended. Beeman said he chose the house because someone named Tim told him to do a “drug rip” with him and that there were drugs, cash and guns there.

Beeman said he was with the man named Tim when they scoped out the victims’ house, saw people in the bedroom, when he stuck his body through the air conditioner gap, and when he broke another window and kicked in the front door.

“The defendant stated he was in a rage and didn’t remember stabbing anyone,” McCarthy said.

“But for the fact that (the homeowner) was able to obtain his gun from a safe, this could be a triple homicide before the court,” Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Maria McCarthy said at a bond hearing for Beeman on Friday.

Beeman, who was wearing arm and leg shackles in court had his bail set at $2 million. His next court date is September 1, 2016.
