Prospect High School band members learned this morning in a secret surprise meeting that The Prospect Marching Knights — representing the State of Illinois — will march and perform in the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Marching Knights are one of eight high school bands chosen from more than 175 worldwide band applicants.
Wesley Whatley, creative director of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, made the announcement that it is his job to shine a national spotlight on some of the best music programs in the country, and described flying in from New York to share information nationwide to select high school marching bands. Today was the announcement for the Prospect High School Marching Knights.
VIPs Mount Prospect Mayor Arlene Juracek and Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes, a Prospect High School graduate, were in attendance for the surprise announcement.
