Raw: Video of Iraq refinery fire after militant attack.

Video obtained by the Associated Press shows a fire that started at the Beiji oil refinery, north of Baghdad, caused by an attack on the refinery by militants from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). The Sunni militant group invaded Iraq’s largest oil refinery on Wednesday June 18, 2014 with mortar strikes. The Iraqi government defense involves limited air attacks to strike back at ISIS, which now controls large areas of the northern part of country.

Beiji or Baiji, Iraq (population 200,000) is located about 130 miles north of Baghdad. During the Gulf War from August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991, the oil refinery was mostly destroyed. Immediately after the Gulf War, refinery was rebuilt. Throughout the 1990s the oil refinery was operated with poor maintenance and heavily polluted the area.
