Lone Survivor is a 2013 American war film written and directed by Peter Berg and starring Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster, and Eric Bana. Lone Survivor is based on the 2007 nonfiction book of the same name by Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson.
Peter Berg wrote much of his screenplay from Luttrell’s eyewitness accounts in the book. Marcus Luttrell and several other Navy SEAL veterans acted as technical advisors, while multiple branches of the United States Armed Forces aided the film’s production.
Based on the failed June 28, 2005 mission “Operation Red Wings.” Four members of SEAL Team 10, were tasked with the mission to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader, Ahmad Shahd. Marcus Luttrell was the only member of his team to survive.
