Metra Train-Pedestrian Incident at Northwest Highway and Central Rd, Mount Prospect

UPDATE: Metra is advising passengers to listen for platform announcements for changes in schedule in response to a train-pedestrian incident.

Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:51 AM Wednesday to a report of a train-pedestrian incident at Northwest Highway and Central Road Mount Prospect, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that pedestrian was hit by a train. Train have been stopped in both directions. The train involved is outbound train #607 according to Metra advisory, which is normally scheduled to leave Ogilvie Transportation Center at 7:13 a.m. and is normally scheduled to arrive at Mount Prospect at 7:51 a.m., and Arlington Heights at 7:56 a.m. Train #607 is being changed to an inbound train. Passengers on original #607 will be accommodated by other train(s).

According to a Metra Service Advisory, Train #626, scheduled to arrive Chicago at 8:31 a.m., is currently stopped north of the Mount Prospect station due to a pedestrian incident. The estimated time of delay is unknown.

The following trains are present stopped on the Northwest Line due to a pedestrian incident north of Mount Prospect involving train #607.

Train #626, scheduled to depart Barrington at 7:27 a.m., arriving Chicago at 8:31 a.m., presently stopped near Arlington Heights and approximately 28 minutes late or more.

Train #628, scheduled to depart Barrington at 7:42 a.m., arriving Chicago at 8:36 a.m., presently stopped near Arlington Heights and approximately 15 minutes late.

Train #630, scheduled to depart Harvard at 7:08 a.m., arriving Chicago at 8:41 a.m., presently stopped near Fox River Grove and approximately 28 minutes late.

Train #632, scheduled to depart McHenry at 7:39 a.m., arriving Chicago at 8:52 a.m., presently stopped near Fox River Grove and approximately 17 minutes late.

Train #634, scheduled to depart Barrington at 7:47 a.m., arriving Chicago at 8:55 a.m., presently stopped near Palatine and approximately 27 minutes late.

Train #636, scheduled to depart Harvard at 7:35 a.m., arriving Chicago at 9:23 a.m., presently stopped near Arlington Heights and approximately 15 minutes late.

Trains will be stopped until the local police municipality allows train operation to resume. Delays may reach 45 to 60 minutes late or more. Updates will be posted as soon as more information becomes available.
