
The Barrington Police Department about 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2026, received a report of a battery at the Barrington Metra Station located at 201 Spring St. in Barrington, Illinois.
At the train station, officers located a 42-year-old male victim who reported being punched in the face by Timothy A. Kirschner, 60, of the 1100 block of West Rand Road, Arlington Heights. There are no residences in the block of 1100 West Rand Road in Arlington Heights.
The victim was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital, where he was diagnosed with serious injuries, including head trauma.
Following a review of the investigation, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of aggravated battery-great bodily harm, a class 3 felony, against the male offender.
In accordance with the SAFE-T Act, the offender was taken into custody and transported to the Cook County Jail pending a detention hearing scheduled for July 20, 2026. The Barrington Police Department did not indicate where Timothy A. Kirschner was arrested, and did not indicate whether or not Kirschner fled the scene at the train station before police arrived.
