
Palatine Police officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on Friday, July 10, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m. in the area of East Dundee Road and North Baldwin Road in Palatine.
During the traffic stop, police officers made contact with the driver and a passenger. The driver was identified as Noah B. Karpman, 30, of Buffalo Grove. During the course of the traffic stop investigation, officers recovered suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia from the driver. According to the Palatine Police Department, while police officers attempted to place the driver under arrest, he physically resisted before being taken into custody.

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Fentanyl & Cocaine) (Class X Felony)
Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl & Cocaine) (Class 1 Felony)
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor)
Resisting a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor)
The passenger was released from the scene without charges.
Karpman appeared for a detention hearing on Saturday, July 11, 2026, and was released pending trial. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Room 108 at the Cook County Third Municipal District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
