One of several suspects that burglarized a semi-trailer truck at CDW on Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills was captured in Chicago after several suspects fled in three vehicles from the Vernon Hills scene.
Vernon Hills police responded about 1:00 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026 to a report of a burglary or robbery at the CDW property, 200 North Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills. Police received a report that a group of masked offenders, wearing gloves, were taking cargo from a semi-trailer parked on the property.
When the semi-truck driver confronted them, police said the suspects physically beat him and threatened him with a firearm. The suspects then fled the scene in three separate vehicles southbound on Interstate 94 EAST near Townline Road.

Shortly after, Glencoe police tried to stop a gray Chrysler Pacifica speeding around 100 MPH on I-94.
At times the driver of the black BMW tried to run interference after the driver of the minivan got off and re-entered I-94 a couple of times. Speeds were up to 110 MPH while the driver of the minivan turned off his headlights.
The driver of the minivan crashed into a parked vehicle in the 5400-block of South Wells Street in Chicago (Wells Street and 54th Street) after getting off I-94 at 47th Street and continued south Well Street.
Police said the driver was taken into custody, but a passenger or two passengers got away after they bailed out of the van. The suspects that fled were described as male blacks.
The other two vehicles were not located.
Images from the scene showed multiple packages and boxes inside the minivan.
The preliminary value of items stolen is over $100,000, Vernon Hills police said.
There were also pursuit involving three vehicles after an attempted robbery 2306 West North Avenue in Melrose Park around 3:30 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. One of the vehicles crashed at North Avenue and Lake Street in Elmhurst near I-290 and I-294.
Additionally, there was a pursuit involving three offenders in a vehicle that were suspected of robbing a Speedway in Addison about 2:45 a.m.
