Palatine Police Arrest Armed Repeat Felony Offender Following Domestic Disturbance on Geneva Drive Near Rand Road

Palatine police officers were dispatched about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025 to the block of 1300 North Geneva Drive for a reported domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with individuals on scene and gathered information about the incident.




Palatine police officers were advised that the suspect, 39-year-old Dewayne A. Skippings, of the block of 1300 North Geneva Drive in Palatine, was hiding in the area. Additional officers responded to assist in the search, and Dewayne Skippings was located a short time later. He attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody by Palatine police officers. Officers also recovered Skippings’s backpack, which contained a loaded .45-caliber handgun with ammunition, cannabis, and drug-packaging materials.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges against Skippings:

Possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender (Class X Felony)

Obstructing a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor)

Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver (Class A Misdemeanor)

Skippings was transported to a detention hearing on November 21, 2025, where he was ordered to be detained at the Cook County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 11, 2025, at 9:00 AM in Room 108 of the Rolling Meadows Courthouse.
