Police, firefighters and paramedics from Chicago responded about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025 to a report of a house fire on Damen Avenue near the intersection of Damen Avenue and 57 Street in Chicago.
Engine 116 on arrival reported they were northbound on Damen Avenue with fire showing (fully-involved) from the rear of a 1 1/2-story frame.
Battalion 6 was in command; and Engine 116, Engine 123, Truck 41, and Tower Ladder 39 were assigned to the working fire. Truck 33 with Battalion 19 were RIT (Rapid Intervention Team).
Tower 39 positioned at the front of the building. Command Van 2-7-4 and Deputy District Chief 2-2-1 were assigned to the scene, along with an EMS commander (4-5-5) and two ambulances.
Both Main Aerials were up — one at the front of the building and one over the north side of the building.
Battalion 6 reported a two-story frame with a fire in the rear and fire on the first floor with one line on the fire in the rear and one line on the fire in the front by 3:46 p.m. Searches were underway by 3:48 p.m. and fire suppression crews were making good progress by 3:50 p.m.
Searches for victims on the first and second floors and the basement were negative. One fire officer was injured, and transported to the hospital by CFD EMS.
The Office of Fire Investigations (OFI) was also assigned to the scene.
The fire was declared out by 4:08 p.m. A house to the north of the house fire was reported to have minor exterior damage.
