Lake County Sheriff’s Crash Investigators are investigating a serious crash involving a left-turn passenger vehicle in front of an oncoming motorcycle that occurred Friday afternoon in Wadsworth, Illinois.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 1:10 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025 to a report of a car vs motorcycle crash on Route 173 east of Route 41 in Wadsworth. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found the motorcycle operator sustained critical injuries. Prior to the arrival of sheriff’s deputies, good Samaritans utilized a belt and applied it as a tourniquet to a leg of the injured motorcycle operator.
The operator of the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the Nissan was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.
Preliminary investigation shows a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 68-year-old man of Wadsworth, was traveling westbound on Route 173. As the operator of the motorcycle was traveling westbound, a Nissan Rogue, driven by a 38-year-old woman of Muskego, Wisconsin, was traveling eastbound on Route 173. The driver of the Nissan made a left turn into Van Patton Woods Forest Preserve, directly in the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the side of the Nissan, and the operator of the motorcycle was thrown off. His left leg was severed during the impact.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
