Serious Hazmat Situation Involving Hydrochloric Acid Spill at Dock of Building on Devon Ave, Elk Grove Village

Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Elk Grove Village responded about 8:47 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025 to a report of a chemical spill at 1998 East Devon Avenue in Elk Grove Village. There is a report of a hydrochloric acid spill at the dock of a commercial building. The Hydrochloric Acid spill is estimated to be over 300 gallons with a white vapor emanating from the spill.

A Hazmat Level 2 response was activated at about 9:03 a.m.

The spill may involve a semi-trailer truck

At 9:41 a.m. command reported that an extended operation would be underway, but that further elevation of the response was not anticipated (No MABAS Box Alarm as of 9:45 AM).
